Useful information about your stay
Planet Apartments is a family run apartment hotel located in a five story building, next to the buzzing old harbour area, known by the locals as Slippurinn. Our modern and newly renovated apartments are ideally located in the downtown harbour district, just a stone’s throw away from the capital’s centre and main attractions. You are only few minutes’ walk from all the best bars and restaurants, yet you will enjoy a quiet and comfortable stay in your apartment. On our website we have put tips on our favorite shops, bars and restaurants.
This is a non-lobby apartment hotel but always feel free to contact us.
How to check-in
You will receive a code to a key-box to get a key to access the apartment.
You put in the digits - turn down the small black lever and open the key box.
Check-in time is after 14:00PM. Late arrival is no problem. Check-out before 11:00AM. Please leave remote to the garage on the wall in the hallway.
You will first need to access the apartment to get the remote for the private parking.
Private Parking
The apartment comes with private parking in the basement. The remote control and key for elevator are inside your apartment. You will need to use the key for the elevator only when going down. Put the key inside the keyhole and press K inside the elevator (sometimes you need to jiggle the key for it to turn).
Apple TV
Please turn on the Apple Tv with the black small remote and turn on the TV. Press source button and choose HDM1 (If Netflix does not turn on immediately) select NETFLIX or other apps that you want to access. If your apartment has a smart Tv please select NETFLIX button on the remote. RÚV is the local tv station.
Free WIFI
All information in your welcome email and on the back of the routers provided in the apartments.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary cooking equipment. Dishwasher (detergent under the sink), oven, coffee machine, kettle, microwave and toaster.
Linen
All linen is provided. If you are staying longer than three days you are welcome to ask for clean towels.
The hot water
Iceland is a volcanic island and some might find that the hot water smells a bit - it is not harmful and it is not because of rotten eggs;). It has a hint of sulphur that is in our geothermal hot water. The cold water is as good as can be and please drink it from the tab instead of buying the same stuff for a high price in a plastic bottle.
Heating
All apartments have geothermal radiators located in the bedroom, living room and bathroom. Air-conditioning is not necessary :)
Garbage
Garbage bins are located on the first floor (the middle door). Blue bin is for paper and black for mixed garbage. Green is for plastic and just leave bottles and cans next to the door, it will be collected. We appreciate your religious help for recycling.
Laundry
LAUNDRY MACHINE: Select desired program and klick START. Of course, you know that you don ́t mix together black and white and beware of the pink sock :-) If your apartment has dryer/washer (501) unit please select desired program and press start.
DRYER: Put your garment in your dryer - select program or time and push the start button. Please empty the water container if it is full and the filter container.
Sleeping Couch
Apartments 404 and 405 have sleeping couches. If more than two guests are sleeping in our apartment we offer a sleeping couch. It is simple to open: stand in front of the sleeping sofa and pull the back of the couch towards you and it will open in one movement. Please do not close it with linen and duvets in it - it will damage the sleeping sofa.
Bathtub/Shower in 501
The function of the bath and shower faucet is quite simple. You just push it from right to left to switch the water coming out for the shower or for the bath tub. Simple as that!
