We are proud of the wide range of fine restaurants in Reykjavik

Our favourite places in Reykjavík to go out for dining are based on atmosphere - vegetarian options and fish. I am not a meat lover but I will mention places that are highly recommend for carnivores. You can walk from the apartment to all these places :-)

Food and Fun:

Brút: Scandinavian style dining and a delicious popular Brunch during weekends.

Matbar: Great for glass of wine and small tasty dishes.
Snaps: Old time local favorite, Scandinavian-French bistro.

Sumac: New funky modern Middle-East eatery. We love it.

Kopar: Great fish - nice location.

Austur Indíafjelagið: Excellent Indian food - my all time favourite for casual, fine dining.

Apótekið: Great location, Great Interior - for meat and fish lovers.

Food Cellar: New style cuisine. Highly rated.

Akur: New modern seafood restaurant & food court next door, with a view over the old harbour.

Kramber: A brand new bar just opened a week ago run by our friends. Super cozy

Bakabaka: Nice new bakery and a restaurant downtown.
Hraðlestin: Best Indian take-away in town.

Take away - good food - close by:
Burger Joint: Damn good honest burgers just across the street from your apartment.

Lamb: LAMB's ideology is precisely to honour the Icelandic traditions and fuse them with centuries-old habits of the Middle-East.
Valdís: Icelanders love ice-cream even during the coldest winter days.
Flatey: Good pizzas and take-away.

Brikk: Nice home made breads, salats and soups - very close by at Mýrargata

Food Halls close by:

Posthus Foodhall

Opened in November 2022. Down town food court in the old Post Office building.

Hafnartorg Gallery

Opened in 2022, the downtown Hafnartorg Gallery, an all-in-one stop for shopping, food, wine, and more. Adjacent to the shops along Geirsgata and near the Icelandic Phallological Museum, Hafnartorg also houses a food court. Wine bars Brand and Akur will definitely refresh you after a day of walking and shopping. We recommend trying Black Dragon, a French-Asian fusion restaurant that will blow your tastebuds away, or Kualua, one of Iceland’s first Hawaiian Poké restaurants.

Vera Food Court

Vera Food Hall is located near the University of Iceland and serves not only the students and staff but also some of the companies that have moved to this part of the city. It is a great place to grab lunch. The food hall is open until 22:00 on weekdays and 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Even better, it opens earlier than most of the other food halls, so you can grab a coffee and a healthy breakfast at Stund during the week as early as 8:00. Pizza, fried chicken, and soups are just a few of the options you can find at Vera. You can find Vera on Bjargargata 1 inside the Gróska building.

Hlemmur Food Court

Hlemmur Food Hall is Reykjavík’s first food court. Even though it opened just a couple of years back, it’s difficult to imagine Hlemmur square without it. The food court attracts a fun crowd and especially during lunchtime, it’s booming with customers. On sunny days, people enjoy their food and beverages outside. With Neapolitan pizza, LA-style tacos, Vietnamese cuisine, gourmet burgers, and specialities from the in 2019 Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Skál, there’s something for everybody!

We recommend the two stands that are in the middle back-to-back, Kröst and Skál! Still among our favourites in Reykjavík.

Grandi Food Court

At Grandi Food Hall, people are encouraged to try different dishes from several food stands, instead of picking just one meal at one restaurant. Next to food, Grandi Food Hall focuses on events, reflecting big festivals and holidays that are celebrated in Reykjavík, whether it's Iceland Airwaves or the Icelandic National Day. Also, recently, a brand-new fresh fish market has opened on the premises. What’s more, Grandi Food Hall is the perfect meeting point for people who want to discover the harbour area, filled with boutique shops, ice cream parlours, and museums.

Our favourite venue in Reykjavík:
Fly over Iceland : Attraction with motion seating & a wraparound screen, simulating flight over mountains & glaciers of Iceland.

Walk around the city coastline and see the Solfar (Sun voyager) and Harpan conference centre... and watch out for the Northern Lights during nights, the seaside promenade is the best place for that.
