Supermarkets in the neighbourhood

First of all, our darling little Pétursbúð, just up the street Ægisgata, towards the church. There you will find most everything you need in your simple household for the next days. It’s more pricey than the supermarkets that are all located out on the Grandi part of the port area.

The Supermarkets.

Need more stuff? Then take the 10 min walk with left turn on Mýrargata, pass the Marina hotel and continue to the roundabout.

On the way you will pass on your left hand side an excellent baker, Brikk and across the street from the bakery there is a pharmacy.

Take the second exit on the roundabout and bingo! There you have three supermarkets. First Bónus, usually with the best prices, then Nettó, open 24h and thirdly Krónan, with the best selection and prices just slight above Bónus.

Please note that you can only buy beer and alcohol in the state-operated Vínbúð. The closest one is on the city centre’s main drag, Austurstræti, closed on Sundays. A lot of people find alcohol prohibitively expensive in Iceland, so it may be a good idea to pick up some bottles in the duty free before clearing customs and safe up to 50% on Vínbúð prices
